All You Need is Love(and maybe a Beatles painting).

So who knew? The Beatles created another type of art other than music, and it will now be up for auction next month at Christie's auction house in New York. The painting by the famous four musicians(shown above), and titled, Images of a Woman, was created over several nights in a Tokyo Hilton hotel room in July 1966, when the Beatles were on tour in Japan. Due to their immense global popularity, as well as security concerns because of some protests, the group mostly had to stay in their hotel room when they were not performing on the tour. Someone involved with the Beatles tour had some art supplies brought in for them to use while they were holed up in the hotel. Each of the band members, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison, painted a corner of the piece. The circle in the center of the painting is from a lamp that had been placed in the center for light. When it was removed, the band members used the empty circular space to sign their names. The painting was done in both oil and watercolor paints, and measures approximately 30x40 inches. The painting is also known as, The Tokyo Painting. You can read more about this very interesting art story in the CNN article here. Images of a Woman, will be part of Christie’s “Exceptional Sale,” a yearly auction event held in New York, London, and Paris. You can click on the link provided and check out some of the other pieces up for auction, just in case you want to make a bid! Or perhaps, and a bit less expensive, you can just listen to some of the iconic Beatles music that we all know and love. 'Cause, all you need is love!
