We all remember growing up hearing the old, antiquated saying of, "sticks and stones." For the purpose of this post, the first few words from this phrase are being used not as an expression, but instead, as how these two elements of nature are being used to create amazing art! This two part blog series, this month and next, will feature 2 very unique artists --one, who uses sticks to create artworks, and the other, who uses . . . you guessed it, stones. The first artist, shown here on this month's post, is Warsaw-based artist, Rodolfo Liprandi, who creates animal sculptures from raw materials. Using things like twigs, branches, shrubbery, and other items that most of us would just consider yard waste, he creates his larger than life sculptures. He grew up in the northeastern part of Italy, near the Slovenia border, and created his first sculpture, a wild boar, about 10 years ago. Since then, his art has taken him all across Europe, creating commissioned sculptures in parks, gardens, and other outdoor environments. His "sticktacular" sculptures are also made entirely from local elements, keeping the environmental impact to a minimum. You can enjoy viewing several of his artworks below!
