I've been thinking about kindness a lot lately, and feeling like we sure could use more of it these days. It seems like no matter where you look, we are spiraling in a world of negativity and there is bad news all around. But then sometimes, I see stories like the two that I am sharing here, and it makes me realize that perhaps there is a lot more good news out there than we think that just doesn't make the "Breaking News" headlines. The first story has to do with a piano player, and the second story has to do with an Olympic athlete. Make sure to click on the links provided to read them--you will be glad you did! These both are from the CNN newsletter, "The Good Stuff," which arrives in my inbox every Saturday morning. The stories are lighthearted and often inspiring, and restore my faith each week that there really is more good in the world than bad.
So, in thinking about kindness, I created some kindness rocks(from the Fall 2021 How-To-Art Projects section on this website). Each day in September, I plan to randomly place one of these rocks somewhere in my "stomping ground," for a friend, neighbor, or random passerby to find. I hope that finding one of these might just brighten someone's day, and restore their faith in kindness as well.
